Windows Live Mail Client Setup Walkthrough

Step 1, Check if Windows Live Mail is already installed:

Click the Windows 7 Start button.

Type “Windows Live Mail” into the search bar, just above the Start button as shown.

If “Windows Live Mail” shows up under the “Programs” category skip ahead to Step 4. If you do not see “Windows Live Mail” under the “Programs” category then go on to Step 2 for instructions to download and install the “Windows Live Mail” program.

Step 2, Download the Windows Live Mail Installer:

Download Windows Live Mail 2011 using this link: http://g.live.com/1rewlive4-web/en/wlsetup-web.exe

Save the file and then open(run) it. Or if your browser gives you the option to “run” the file from the web you can do that. Windows may give you a security warning asking “Do you want to run this file?” Click the “Run” button to open the file.

Step 3, Installing Windows Live Mail:

Once you run the installation file downloaded in Step 2, you will see the following window:

If you only want to install the Windows Live Mail email client select “Choose the programs you want to install”. If you want the entire Windows Live Essentials suite installed select “Install all of Windows Live Essentials”.

From here this walkthrough will give instructions for installation of ONLY the Windows Live Mail component of Windows Live Essentials. If you would like more information about other Windows Live Essentials products please refer to Microsoft Support.

Un-check all of the boxes except for the “Mail” box as shown. Then click on the “Install” button.

Windows is now installing the mail client. This may take a few minutes to complete.

Once the installation is done click the “Close” button.

Step 4, Opening the Windows Live Mail application:

To open the “Windows Live Mail” application click the Windows 7 Start button to open the start menu.

Type “Windows Live Mail” into the search bar, just above the Start button as shown.

Click on “Windows Live Mail” under the “Programs” category in the start menu to open the application.

The first time you open Windows Live Mail you should see the following window stating “Add your email accounts”. If you see this window, skip ahead to Step 6. If not continue to Step 5.

Step 5, Opening the “Add your email accounts” setup window:

Click on the “Accounts” tab to switch to the accounts screen.

Click the “Email” icon on the left side to open the “Add your email accounts” window.

The “Add your email accounts” window should now be open. If not, close the Windows Live Mail application and repeat steps 4-5.

Step 6, Setting up your email account for the 1st time:

Type your full email address in the field labeled “Email address:” as shown. Type your email password into the field labeled “Password:”. Type your name into the field labeled “Display name for your sent messages:”

Once you have your basic email account information entered into the form click the “Next” button to continue to the “Configure your servers” window.

In the “Configure your servers” window enter “isp.cbcast.com” for the incoming server address and “mail.cbcast.com” for the outgoing server address. Enter your FULL email address in the “Logon username:” field and check the box for “Requires authentication” as shown here:

Once all of the server settings are done click the “Next” button to continue.

You should now see the following message indicating that your email account was setup successfully.

Click the “Finish” button and your email account should now be ready to use with the Windows Live Mail email client. For more information about using Windows Live Mail press the “F1” key anytime while using the application to be directed to the Windows Live Mail Help Center.

If you receive any errors double check all of the settings entered during this walk through and check to make sure any anti-virus or firewall security software installed on your computer isn’t blocking Windows Live Mail.
