A: Please refer to the Suggested Browser Page for more information about internet browsers.
Q: What is VoIP service?
A: Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a term for technologies that provide for voice communications across the internet or other IP (Internet Protocol) based networks instead of through the public switched telephone network (PSTN). To use VoIP phone service the analog voice signal must first be digitalized with an ATA (analog telephone adapter), then the digital signal can be sent across an IP network to a VoIP provider where the digital signal can be converted back to an analog voice signal for transmission onto the analog public phone network. Users of many larger national VoIP providers experience a lag, or delay in their conversations. This is due to increased latency from the digital signal having to travel across the Internet to the provider's VoIP conversion switch (often located in coastal regions). The signal then has to travel back across the analog phone network to the recipient of the phone call, even if they are right across the street. Providers using locally based conversion switches are not affected by this latency issue and are able to offer higher quality VoIP service to their local clients.
